Terms of use

These terms are the agreement between you and Lumi for using Lumi. By making an account you agree to them. Nothing in them affects your rights under UK consumer law.

The service

Lumi is an AI tutor. It plans a lesson from what you ask for, teaches it out loud, writes and draws on a shared board, and can set practice afterwards. It can be taught to a specific exam course you choose.

It is AI, and it can be wrong

Lumi is built to say when it does not know, and never to invent what is in your material or on your specification — but any AI can make mistakes. Check anything important against your course materials or your teacher. Lumi supports your learning; it does not replace your teacher, and we cannot promise any particular mark or grade.

Your account

You must be 13 or older, and if you are under 18 you should have a parent or guardian’s permission. Keep your sign-in to yourself — you are responsible for what happens on your account.

Plans and payment

• Free trial: 30 minutes of tutoring in total, over up to 3 lessons. It does not reset.
• Plus: 2 hours of tutoring a week, resetting every Monday. Unused time does not carry over. You can buy top-ups of 2 more hours, which are used once your weekly time runs out and do not expire while your account is open.
• Unlimited: no set limit on tutoring, under a fair-use ceiling of 3 hours a day on average across a week, which stops misuse rather than normal study.

Both are paid monthly or yearly at the price shown when you subscribe. Payments are taken by Stripe. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel, which you can do at any time from Settings; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. If a price changes we will tell you before your next renewal. If something goes wrong with a payment, use Help in the app.

Using Lumi fairly

Don’t use Lumi to break the law, to harass anyone, to cheat in an assessment where AI help is not allowed, to upload material you have no right to share, or to try to overload, copy or get around the limits of the service.

Your material, and ours

What you upload and create stays yours. You let us store and process it only to run your lessons, as our privacy notice explains. The Lumi service, its teaching content and its software are ours; lesson notes and resources made for you are yours to use for your own study.

If things go wrong

We work to keep Lumi available and correct, but we cannot guarantee it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, or for indirect losses. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

Ending

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, and will tell you why.

Changes and law

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it applies. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Questions? Use Help in the app.
